A long time ago, there was a powerful god named Lord Shiva. He lived far away from people, deep in the mountains. He wore tiger skin, had long hair, and spent most of his time meditating. He didn’t care about fancy clothes or parties—he was calm and peaceful, but very powerful.
There was once a goddess named Sati who loved Shiva and married him. But sadly, she died after her father insulted Shiva. Heartbroken, Shiva went into deep meditation and didn’t talk to anyone for a long time.
Parvati Is Born
Later, Sati was born again as Parvati, the daughter of the mountain king Himavan. From the time she was young, Parvati loved Shiva and wanted to marry him. But Shiva was still in meditation and didn’t notice her.
Parvati’s Hard Work
To show her love, Parvati started doing tapasya—a kind of deep prayer and fasting. She sat in the forest, didn’t eat much, and prayed to Shiva for years. The gods were amazed by her strength and love.
One day, Shiva noticed her and wanted to test her. He came in disguise and said, “Why do you want to marry Shiva? He’s strange and lives like a beggar!” But Parvati replied, “I know who Shiva really is. I love him with all my heart.”
Shiva was happy with her answer and her love.
The Divine Wedding
Finally, Shiva agreed to marry Parvati. The gods and all living beings celebrated their wedding. It was a big, joyful event with music, dancing, and blessings.
Shiva and Parvati became husband and wife. Together, they are like two sides of the same coin—Shiva is calm and quiet, and Parvati is loving and full of energy. Together, they bring balance to the world.
What We Learn
The story of Shiva and Parvati teaches us that true love needs patience, faith, and effort. If something is meant for you, and you truly believe in it, it will happen at the right time.
